R&B singer R. Kelly says that The Notebook caused him to realize that his 12 year marriage to Andrea Lee Kelly wasn’t going to work.  R. Kelly and Andrea divorced in 2009, five years after the hit romantic film was released.  Kelly reveals this story in his new memoir Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me. The Huffington Post reports:

Some Ryan Gosling fans might argue that the 2004 film “The Notebook” is one of the greatest love stories ever told, but R. Kelly claims it ruined his marriage, reports TMZ.

The singer finalized his divorce from his wife of 12 years, Andrea Lee Kelly, in 2009, but in his new memoir “Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me,” Kelly reveals that the romantic film made him realize his marriage wasn’t meant to last. “As the film credits started to roll, I couldn’t move. I burst into tears. People walking past me patted me on the back, trying to console me.”
