Google Maps is offering indoor maps and walking tours of 20 American museums, including the de Young Museum in San Francisco.

The list includes the 17 Smithsonian museums — including the glorious Smithsonian Zoo, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Cincinnati Museum Center, the Indianapolis Museum of Art and the American Museum of Natural History.

This way visitors can map themselves a walking tour that hits all their interests, while maybe skipping something that holds less interest.

According to Google’s official blog, “more museums are adding their floor plans to Google Maps for Android soon, including the SFMOMA, the Phillips Collection, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and the National WWII Museum in New Orleans.”

Google Maps already has more than 10,000 indoor maps, a feature launched in November 2011.
