The August 17 release date for the upcoming movie Sparkle is still weeks away, but already, fans have been treated to two singles from the movie, including “Celebrate” featuring Jordin Sparks and Whitney Houston, and Houston’s soul-stirring version of “His Eye Is On The Sparrow.” The latest song to hit the web is probably the most popular track from the original Sparkle‘s soundtrack: “Something He Can Feel.” The new version is performed by the film’s stars: Sparks, Tika Sumpter and Carmen Ejogo, and will be available on the official Sparkle soundtrack from RCA, due out July 31st.

The song was performed by Irene Cara, Lonette McKee and Dwan Smith in the original 1976 filmand was then recorded by Aretha Franklin for the movie soundtrack. En Vogue re-recorded the song in 1992 as the second single from their second album, Funky Divas.

How do you think the new version of “Something He Can Feel” measures up to the rendition performed in the original Sparkle in 1976?
