Actress Sanaa Lathan to take acclaimed role in 'By the Way, Meet Vera Stark' to Los Angeles after NYC run

Stage and screen star Sanaa Lathan ("A Raisin in the Sun," "Contagion") returns to the title role in Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage's "By the Way, Meet Vera Stark" for its LA premiere at the Geffen Playhouse.

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

From Ebony.com: Stage and screen star Sanaa Lathan (“A Raisin in the Sun,” “Contagion”) returns to the title role in Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage’s “By the Way, Meet Vera Stark” for its LA premiere at the Geffen Playhouse. Lathan, who originated the character of Vera Stark in the critically acclaimed New York run, will once again take the stage as the 1930’s era maid turned movie star, reuniting with her original cast member Kimberly Hebert Gregory (“Red Hook Summer) who played “Lottie.” Headed by award-winning director Jo Bonney, the West Coast premiere cast also features Kevin Carroll, Spencer Garrett, and Geffen alum Mather Zickel.
