While speaking at a Connecticut fundraiser last night, President Barack Obama described Anne Hathaway’s performance in The Dark Knight Rises as “spectacular,” adding, “I got a chance to see Batman and she was the best thing in it. That’s just my personal opinion.”

The fundraiser was held at the home of Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein in Connecticut. Weinstein co-hosted the event, along with Hathaway, Joanne Woodward and Aaron Sorkin.

The celebrity-filled occasion reportedly cost $35,800 a plate, and included the likes of talk show host Jerry Springer and fashion icon Anna Wintour.
