A recently released clip from an upcoming episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter shows pop star Rihanna crying about the 2009 incident in which her then-boyfriend, R&B hitmaker Chris Brown, physically assaulted her. After the assault, the Grammy winner tells host Oprah Winfrey, “I lost my best friend.”
Rihanna also describes the difficulty of trying to interpret what had happened and deal with her own emotions “with the world watching.”
“It was a weird confusing place to be in because as angry as I was, as angry and hurt and betrayed, I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help…and who’s going to help him?” said the singer.
The full interview is scheduled to air this Sunday at 9pm on Oprah’s Next Chapter on the OWN Network.
