JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Video recorded the night a young man was fatally shot in a patrol car while his hands were cuffed behind his back is doing little to answer questions about whether he shot himself in the head as officers said.

Jonesboro police released the footage to The Associated Press and other news organizations under a Freedom of Information Act request. It comes about three weeks after 21-year-old Chavis Carter was fatally shot in the head on July 28.

The video does not show the shooting. It appears to end before the officers found Carter slumped over and bleeding in the back of a patrol car as described in a police report.

A lawyer for Carter’s family says nothing in the footage shows what actually happened with Carter.
