Act like a Lady, Think like a Man author Steve Harvey sat down with The Today Show’s Savannah Guthrie to talk about his new daytime talk show called Steve Harvey, which is distributed by NBC Universal, and premieres on September 4th.

The comedian plans to focus his show on the stories of everyday people because as he said, “they are the most interesting people, plus, they show up” adding that “regular people are more relatable.”

Relating to the audience is an important aspect of the new show for Harvey because he says he draws his humor from a life of pain, unemployment, poverty, homelessness and success. The opportunity to help people find humor in the everyday struggles of life in a competitive television time slot is a challenge that Steve Harvey is looking forward to.
