Sean “Diddy” Combs was the famous face in the crowd as he attended his son Justin’s first game at UCLA, and in his company was Misa Hylton-Brim, his son’s mother.

Although his redshirt status means that the young Justin Combs would spend a majority of his time on the sideline rather than on the field, his proud parents basked in every moment of the game as UCLA emerged the winners in an upset against Nebraska with a final score of 36-30 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California.

MORE: Should Diddy’s son accept a scholarship to play football at UCLA?

Justin Combs, who earned a $54,000 Division 1 scholarship to attend and play football for UCLA, came under fire from critics who insinuated that the scholarship was unfair because it was potentially depriving other needy kids from having a shot at success.

The Combs family has long maintained that the success and the scholarship award received by Justin had nothing to with his father’s fame.
