NBC MIAMI – When you think Halloween you think ghouls and goblins, not the Miami Dolphins and shopping.

But the latter combo is what came together Tuesday at a local costume store.

“It’s good because this the first time I ever seen a Dolphin and Party City,” said James, a student at Lorah Park Elementary School in Brownsville.

With the creepy holiday right around the corner, the Miami Dolphins and Party City teamed up with students from the school for a costume shopping spree on Tuesday.

“In this case she wants to be a Valley girl, so (I’m) excited to make her a Valley girl for Halloween and she’s got her glasses there. We need to find a purse,” Dolphins defensive end Jared Odrick said of a student by his side. “I’m not sure what exactly you need to be a Valley girl, but she would know better than I.”

The kids weren’t at all scared of the huge Dolphins players. They had fun going aisle to aisle buying costumes and accessories for outfits like princesses and werewolves.

“I think it’s just important to get involved in the community and develop relationships with the kids,” said Lauren Tannehill, the wife of rookie starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill. “It’s really fun. We’re enjoying it a lot.”

With smiles on their faces, the students were happier than a Dolphin scoring the winning touchdown.

“It means a lot. You know, I think the Dolphins do a great job of organizing events for children in need, and incorporating the players into it,” tight end Anthony Fasano said. “I’m privileged to do what I do and it’s a no-brainer for me to be able to give back.”
