Just three months after Whitney Houston’s untimely death, filming on a new reality series, The Houstons: On Our Own, began.

The Lifetime show centers around the late singer’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina and her close relatives, including brother-turned-fiancee Nick Gordon and father Bobby Brown.

The first episode premiered last night at 9p.m, during which Bobbi Kristina tells her unsuspecting family that her mother’s ring is a sign of her engagement to Nick Gordon.

Gordon then tells the camera, “Everyone gets it wrong, I was never officially…it’s not incest.”

Whitney’s sister-in-law and Bobbi Kristina’s Aunt Pat encourages Bobbi Kristina to focus on her acting career, rather than her relationship.

Also during the show’s premiere, the family is shown visiting Whitney Houston’s grave for the first time.  This incredibly emotional scene has come under fire by some critics as too intrusive.

Many question the family’s motives as to filming so quickly after Whitney Houston’s death.  The show will be airing every Wednesday at 9p.m. on Lifetime.
