Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

In the latest issue of In Style, which features Halle Berry on the cover, the actress shares her desire to play activist Angela Davis on the big screen, according to Shadow & Act.

“Her story is so fascinating. I would love to bring it to the screen. I would pick her brain to have a better understanding of her affiliation with the Black Panthers and that period from the 1960s.”

The magazine reports that Berry would be interested in making a film exploring Davis’ Communist beliefs.

The Cloud Atlas actress has made her wish known before.

In January 2011, Berry told Jet, “I’ll probably never get to play it in my life and I am going to be sad until the day I die, but I really want to play Angela Davis badly. So badly.”

“I just think she’s fascinating and I think I would love to tell a story from her perspective about that time in our history and what it was all about with the Black Panthers,” she continued.

Last month, director Shola Lynch debuted Free Angela & All Political Prisoners, a documentary which focuses on the period in time Berry has expressed interest in.

In 2011, Berry was lobbied by Aretha Franklin to play the Queen of Soul in a big screen biopic, but the actress declined.

“If I could carry a tune, I’d consider it,” Berry told E! “Someone should tell Aretha that I can’t do her justice.”
