Morris Chestnut, Harold Perrineau, Terrence Howard and Taye Diggs in 'The Best Man' (1999)

Fourteen years after the cult black hit The Best Man was released in theaters, Universal Studios has announced a release date for its sequel; November 15, 2013.

The original starred Taye Diggs, Morris Chestnut, Terrence Howard  and Nia Long and grossed over $35 million at the box office.

Malcolm D. Lee, who wrote, directed and co-produced the original, will resume all three roles for the sequel.

Lee held a reunion cast dinner recently which sparked rumors of the sequel, but no word yet on which members of the 1999 film’s cast will appear in the new film.
