NEW YORK (AP) — Former New York Mayor Ed Koch has been hospitalized for the second time in three months, this time with a respiratory infection.

Spokesman George Arzt says the 87-year-old Koch was admitted Tuesday afternoon to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He says Koch is being treated with antibiotics.

Arzt says the two were having lunch Tuesday when Koch said he didn’t feel well and planned to call a doctor.

The former mayor was hospitalized in September after feeling weak while staying with friends in North Carolina. He kept tabs on the Democratic National Convention there while undergoing tests. He was treated for anemia, was released after three days and said he planned to head straight to his office at a law firm.

Koch served three terms from 1978 to 1989. The Democrat is famous for asking constituents, “How’m I doing?”
