NBC Miami – An accident Friday night involving 6-year-old Keenan Smith quickly turned into a spur of the moment rescue mission for Frantz Jean-Claude.

“It happened right here and I just stopped. I stopped the car right here in the middle of the street and I run across the street and check the child to see what happened,” said Jean-Claude.

He’s a nurse who works at Aventura Hospital and as soon as he saw the little boy on his way to the gym, he immediately put his medical skills to work. Jean-Claude said he checked for a pulse and started CPR right away.

He placed a piece of paper around the child’s bloody mouth for safety precautions and continued to blow into his mouth.

“After about 3 to 5 minutes of CPR he start coughing and I feel pulse again,” he said.

Keenan, 6, and his grandfather were leaving their house, crossing the street when the crash occurred.

Marie Boule is Keenan’s aunt and she says Frantz and his timing was miraculous.

“This is something that we are very grateful for. The person was basically an angel who helped save him so it’s something that the whole family, his sister his mom is very grateful and thankful for,” said Boule.
