Excitement gathered after reports announced that CBS picked up Eddie Murphy’s TV reboot of Beverly Hills Cop.

Now that excitement has slightly dimmed as The Hollywood Reporter says that the network has passed on the series.

However, a shimmer of hope remains as Sony and Paramount are looking for another TV network to feature the drama. Meanwhile, no reasons have yet been given on why CBS has decided to drop the show.

The series has been in the works since late last year after Murphy and executive producer Shawn Ryan cast comic actor Brandon T. Jackson as the new “Beverly Hills Cop.”

Jackson is to play Aaron Foley, the son of Axel Foley and the iconic character previously played by Murphy.

Murphy will reprise his role and appear in a few reoccurring scenes throughout the series. He will also hold responsibilities as one of the show’s executive producers.
