Footage of Lil Wayne taping the music video for his new song “God Bless America” has hit the web – and fans aren’t too happy.

In the leaked taping, the rapper is shown standing in front of an American flag. The flag then drops to the ground and Lil Wayne continues to rap while standing and walking across the stars and stripes.

Some of the song’s lyrics read:

Yeah, my country tis of thee/ Sweet land of kill ‘em and let ‘em die/ God bless America, uh/ This is so Godless America/ Heard tomorrow ain’t promised today/ The end of time is like an hour away.”

He goes on to say:

Damn, military minded, lost it can’t find it/ The stars on the flag are never shinin’/ Uh, I saw a butterfly in hell today/ Will I die or go to jail today?”

Many YouTube users expressed their disapproval of Lil Wayne’s actions in the comments section of the site.

“God Bless America but you have the flag on the ground and stepping all over it? Smh…I’ll be looking forward to Magna Carta Holy Grail…Wayne dropped off a long time [ago] anyway,” one commenter wrote.

Another wrote: “The U.S Flag is a symbol of hope and freedom to those that do not have neither. Not a prop to be stepped on, that[‘s] distasteful and disrespectful to those of us (Veteran’s [sic]) who served our flag and our country so others in dire need would even remotely have a chance at freedom, and rights like those who choose to abuse them in America.”

The song is from Lil Wayne’s latest album I Am Not A Human Being II.
