NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – On April 30, 2013, Kerry Seawright got the devastating news her son, Raymond Seawright, was dead.

“I just feel so much pain inside,” Seawright said.  “It’s unbearable at times for me.”

It’s been days and now weeks without any arrests.

“Nothing on this earth is worth someone’s life,” said Seawright’s cousin, Nicole Giddings. “We just want to know, ‘why did you have to kill him of all things?'”

Newport News police found 22 year-old Raymond lying in the hallway of a boarding house on Chestnut Avenue in Newport News. His mother said he was there with a friend, but she doesn’t know much else about why her son was killed.  She also knows the feeling of loss.

“I’m in a nightmare,” said Seawright.  “Like I’m in a dream. Like I’m going to wake up and this didn’t happen.”

The reality is Kerry Seawright has lost two sons. Her son, Ryan Seawright, was also shot and killed in 2008.  The shooting happened on Adams Drive in Newport News. Giddings said the family is trying to hold themselves together during this awful time.

“It’s bad enough when this happens to any one person,” She explained. “But, for it to happen twice in one family, it is tremendously hard.

Ryan’s suspected killers, a 16-year-old and 20-year-old, were arrested and charged, according to Newport News police. Now the family wants the same outcome for Raymond’s death.

“We just appreciate someone give some leads to authorities so this part of the nightmare can be over,” said Giddings. “And we can try to put our lives back together and go on.”

Police said they interviewed several witnesses at the crime scene where Raymond was killed. They’re trying to figure out if one or multiple people wre involved.
