This week's book list: A look at Egypt's fight for freedom and more

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

As Egypt is fighting for its freedom amid an uprising, and America celebrates hers, this week’s list features books that give insight into both journeys.

We have Egypt on the Brinkby Tarek Osman, which takes us from the 1950s to Hosni Mubarak, and sets the table for what we’re watching play out today.

And from one of the best writers of history of our times, David McCullough’s 1776 tells the raw, gritty and often ugly stories that led to America gaining its freedom from England.

We also have a look at freedom through the eyes of Nick Vujicic, who has managed to overcome life’s greatest obstacles without arms and legs. His Life Without Limits is an inspiration to anyone who thinks that they can’t do something.

Finally, we pay tribute to two authors who died this week. Sci-fi genius Richard Matheson lost his battle with cancer, and romance novelist Francis Ray died unexpectedly on Tuesday. Their works are featured on this week’s Hit List.
