Now that Spike Lee’s Kickstarter film project has surpassed its fundraising goal of $1.25 million, the outspoken director isn’t wasting any time when it comes to assembling his cast.

Lee first cast two relative unknowns, Zaarah Abrahams and Stephen Tyrone Williams in lead parts, and now he’s tapped a more recognizable face.

Michael K. Williams, of The Wire and Boardwalk Empire fame, has become the latest actor to join the cast of the highly publicized, but still untitled and relatively mysterious movie.

Lee announced the casting of Williams, who he first collaborated with on his WWII film Miracle at St. Anna, on his Kickstarter page:

Ladies And Gentlemen, We Have Added A Great Talent To Our Stellar 2 Leads. My Main Man Brooklyn’s Finest, Michael K. Williams Has Joined The Cast Of My Newest Hottest Joint. Who Can Forget The Wailing Warning Of “Omar’s Comin’!!! Omar’s Comin’!!!”? Michael Killed It. I Feel That His Portrayal, His Complexity And His Humanity Of Omar Will Go Down As One Of The Greatest Characters Cable TV Has Seen.

Lee has said that the film could revolve around “human beings who are addicted to blood.” He says it’s “funny, sexy and bloody (and not a remake of Blacula).”
