Tina Turner on ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’: I was ‘tired of singing and dancing’

During last night’s episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter, 73-year-old legendary performer Tina Turner opened up about her recent wedding, iconic career, and what she wants her legacy to be.
Turner made headlines last month when she married her partner of more than 25 years, German music producer Erwin Bach.
The lavish wedding took place at their home in Switzerland, nestled on the banks of Lake Zurich, with more than 120 guests, including Oprah.
During her Next Chapter interview Turner revealed why she decided to finally marry Bach.
“There comes a time in life when you must put things in place,” Turner said. “First I started consolidating, getting rid of property. I got rid of a house in France, a property in America. I made a situation for my sons. Anything that was costly I totally got rid of. Then it occurred to me, if something happened in death for me, Irving would have no say, and I thought it was a bit unfair to live with someone as long as we are, and not to give him any say.”
The “What’s Love Got to Do with It” singer also talked about her wedding day said that she hid in a window to watch her wedding guests as they arrived.
The most shocking revelation during the interview came when Turner talked about her farewell tour that occurred in 2009, and confessed that she was “tired of singing and dancing.”
“No one ever knew on stage how much I was tired of singing and dancing. It’s work,” Turner said.
“The body had started to react on working on high blood pressure. I was taking medication, which pulled me back. I couldn’t get into that second gear to fly. I couldn’t hit my notes… Damn it I really wanted to hit those notes, and I had to fake it somehow”
Turner did not rule out a return to the stage, but doesn’t think her fans would accept a toned down version of her routines, as she ages.
“I don’t think they would accept me standing in a wonderful gown singing. That’s not me.”
