Timbaland, the hip-hop super-producer, has revealed plans for an upcoming, new Michael Jackson release, on what would have been the King of Pop’s 55th birthday.

In video released via Revolt, Timbaland says the project will amount to “two kings working together” and will feature previously unreleased Jackson tracks with his signature production sound.

According to Timbaland, record executive L.A. Reid came to his house and offered him the opportunity to produce presumably dated or unfinished music from Jackson’s archives.

He even has a first single in mind, a song called “Chicago”, which he thinks “sounds like today.” And he says this project will “complete my legacy.”

While Timbaland says he never worked with or met Michael Jackson in person, the late icon called him once and told him he was a fan.

“‘I like you stuff, you’re good’,” TImbaland said Jackson told him. “You’re good too,” he reportedly replied in what has the be the musical understatement of the century.

The producer, best known for his collaborations with Missy Elliott and a host of other hip-hop stars, assures us that the new MJ music will be out later this year.
