A biopic about the late hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur has recently received new financial backing from Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films.

The film has long been in the works and with the new co-financer, the production has received a second wind.

EFO came to a deal with Morgan Creek Productions to co-produce, as well as co-finance, the $45 million budget film, reports Deadline Hollywood.

The film will showcase the life of Shakur, who was a famous actor and rapper. Shakur became a face of “thug life” and West Coast rappers during the East Coast, West Coast feud between hip-hop artists that erupted in the early ’90s.

Seventeen years ago this month Shakur was shot and killed in Las Vegas at the age of 25.

The search for a director and cast is set to begin in the near future.
