A few months ago, it was reported that former reality television star and hotel heiress Paris Hilton was signed to Cash Money Records, and the news left many hip-hop fans collectively scratching their heads.

How can the New Orleans rap label that houses Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj recruit the New York socialite?

Cash Money founder and CEO Birdman went on MTV’s Rapfix to address the fans and explain.

“Why couldn’t this work? We both like money. We got the music thing going. I just feel like it’s a perfect fit,” Birdman told MTV’s Sway with regard to Hilton being on the label.

Paris Hilton not only made her Rapfix debut, but she also teased the video for her new single “Good Time” with label mate Lil Wayne.

“This music is electro-pop. It’s a lot of dance music mixed with pop and also hip-hop, because I have Wayne singing on the song with me,” Hilton told co-host Nadeska Alexis about her debut track.
