Gospel singer/minister Deitrick Haddon stars in Oxygen’s new reality series Preachers of L.A.

Haddon discussed his decision to join the cast of Preachers of L.A. in an interview with theGrio.com.

“I think this show has a lot of class to it and I think it’s the perfect place for preachers to show their reality of who they are,” Haddon said. “I think it’s our transparency that’s gonna win this generation. Trying to be perfect and show people that we are these great people that have the solutions to everything… that’s just not true. Oxygen has really made sure that they stayed authentic to our culture and they did it with class.”

Haddon, who is known for his progressive style of gospel music, said that this show will be entertaining, but won’t cross the boundaries of Christian morality.

Last month the 40-year-old gospel trailblazer released his twelfth studio album, R.E.D. (Restoring Everything Damaged), which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Gospel Albums Chart.

Although Haddon is known for pushing the envelope with his radical gospel styles, he knows one thing for sure…. You will never see him twerking to gospel music.

“What is twerking for Jesus? Hopefully you will never see that,” Haddon said. “That’s what you call ratchet Christian TV.”

Tune into Preachers of L.A. Wednesdays at 10/9c on Oxygen.
