Can Diddy be the 'King of New York'? Rap mogul plans remake of Christopher Walken classic

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Diddy is infamous for his ambition, if not his cinematic chops.

He’s played variations of himself in movies like Get Him to the Greek, and he did try his hand at drama in Monster’s Ball and the stage version of A Raisin in the Sun.

Still, these roles are small potatoes compared to Frank White, the cold-blooded gangster and inspiration to Biggie Smalls, played by Christopher Walken in the 1990 cult classic King of New York.

That film, which also provided breakthrough roles for Wesley Snipes and Laurence Fishburne, was not a blockbuster by any means, but earned a devoted following in the hip-hop community once it reached home video.

Diddy is reportedly in talks with producer Brian Grazer to star in a remake of that Abel Ferrara film.

“Our version won’t be exactly the same, but will have the same hard-core gangster feel,” Grazer told the New York Post.
