Even pop stars aren’t safe from vicious bullies these days.
Lorde, the Grammy-nominated teen singer behind the breakout hit “Royals,” has been subjected to racially insensitive social media taunting just because she may have a boyfriend of Asian descent.
The whole spat reportedly started because of an erroneous report that 17-year-old had called members of the popular boy band One Direction “ugly.”
This sparked a series of tweets making derogatory remarks about Lorde’s rumored boyfriend, who happens to be Asian.
“damn lorde is a lucky girl i bet her boyfriend gives her free manicures and pedicures [sic],” one bully tweeted.
“Lorde called every member of One Direction ugly, please look at Lorde’s boyfriend. Some random Asian dude! C’mon!” added another.
The singer has yet to address any of the social media insults being directed and her and her relationship.
