A 16-year-old girl was spared possibly fatal injuries after the glasses she was wearing deflected a bullet that struck her in the face during a drive-by shooting.
Around 10 o’clock Saturday night, Alonza Bryant was sleeping when bullets riddled her Seattle home.
Three adults and six young children were in the house at the time of the shooting. The shooter returned a short time later for a second drive-by.
Bullets flew through the walls of the home, striking the television and hitting Bryant right between the eyes and getting lodged in the glasses she was wearing.
Authorities do believe the shooting is gang-related, but LaVette Bryant, Alonza’s mother, said she does not know if someone with gang ties was recently at their home.
“It might have been intended for someone who either came by or used to live here,” she said, adding that the family plans to move immediately.
“I just want whoever did this to come forward,” Bryant’s mother told NBC. “You could’ve killed me. You could’ve killed my baby.”
