Actress/Comedienne Kym Whitley is back for a second season of her hit docu-series Raising Whitley, on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
Kym’s accomplished career never prepared her for the phone call of a lifetime. While mentoring a troubled young girl, Kym received a call from the hospital saying, “Your baby is ready. After learning that the girl left the maternity ward leaving her four-day-old baby and only Kym’s contact information, Kym was faced with making a life-changing decision – to become a mother.
Raising Whitley follows actress and comedienne Kym Whitley and her small circle of friends – whom she calls “The Village” – as they attempt to do something none of them have ever done before: raise a baby…together.
In an interview with theGrio’s Chris Witherspoon, Whitley is moved to tears discussing a recent text message that she received from her son Joshua’s biological mother.
“I recently received a text from her, a text that just blew me away,” Whitley revealed. “She said ‘I want to thank you for taking care of Joshua. You are a wonderful mother. You are his mother. I believe that I was put on this earth to give you this baby.’ She’s been watching the show and she said ‘I can’t think of a greater person, and I thank you for taking him.'”
Tune into season 2 of Raising Whitley Saturdays at 9/8c on OWN.
