Funk legend Prince had been planning to sue Facebook fans who had illegally posted his music videos, but he’s reportedly having second thoughts.

The “Purple Rain” musician is infamous for cracking down on unauthorized distribution of his content and he had sued a group of social media users for $22 million for ‘massive infringement and bootlegging of Prince’s material” that amounts to “up to thousands of separate acts of infringement and bootlegging.”

Now, apparently the accused have removed all of the clips from the web, Prince is cutting them some slack.

“Because of the recent pressure, the bootleggers have now taken down the illegal downloads and are no longer engaging in piracy. We recognize the fans craving for as much material as possible but we’d prefer they get it from us directly than from third parties who are scalpers rather than real fans of our work,” his lawyers told TMZ.

Turns out the iconic artist is more benevolent than some people may have previously thought.
