JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jurors have headed to the jury room to start deliberations in the trial of a Florida man charged with killing a teen after an argument over loud music.
The 12 jurors started deliberating Wednesday on whether 47-year-old Michael Dunn committed first-degree murder when he fatally shot 17-year-old Jordan Davis outside a Jacksonville convenience store in 2012.
Dunn is pleading not guilty, claiming self-defense.
Dunn testified that Davis became agitated after he told him and his friends to turn down loud music coming from their SUV.
Dunn testified that moments later, he believed Davis pointed a shotgun at him from a neighboring SUV when he was parked in his car at the convenience store.
Prosecutors disputed Dunn’s account.
