In a move that should surprise no one, Ice Cube and Kevin Hart have already signed on for a sequel to their smash hit action comedy Ride Along.

The film opened at number one and has since grossed $117 million at the box office, making it second only to the blockbuster Lego Movie this year to date.

When theGrio interviewed the stars of the film at its NYC premiere in January, they made no secret about their desire to do a second installment.

“All they gotta do is call me up — I’m ready,” Ice Cube said at the time.

Looks like Cube and Hart got that call.

According to Variety, “Will Packer, Ice Cube and Matt Alvarez will again produce. Tim Story is attached to direct again from a script by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. Universal signed the writers to script the sequel last year.”

Stay tuned for more details about a potential release date for Ride Along 2.
