Twenty-nine year old producer Thaddeus Dixon, is an accomplished drummer who’s worked with legends like Raekwon and Talib Kweli. He sat down with theGrio to discuss his production technique on “Violations”.

Music is all I know. It’s the closest thing to me. It’s like my girl, I love her and hate her all at the same time because I’m always reaching for more and to progress. When I make music I think about the past and future. I just want everyone to enjoy it. Maybe not everyone will understand, but I try to create music where you can feel something, where you can feel apart of me. This is my thought process when I create music. The world and life inspires my music. You inspire my music.

My thoughts into producing Talib Kweli’s violations ft. Raekwon was that I wanted it to be very orchestrated musically but still with a raw edge. Hard drums mixed with lush strings. I had know clue Talib Kweli would pick it, as I shopped it to a few artists. That’s one of my best record I’ve ever made. I made it when I first moved to Cali. That new experience inspired me to make it.
