HOUSTON – Five years ago, a family from out of town went into a Houston convenience store, but when they came back to their car, their window was broken and their family dog was gone.

On Saturday, the family and their dog were finally reunited.

Recently, Houston residents Allie and Stephen Collins found a stray schnauzer.

“It was 5:30 in the morning and he saw this scraggly, dirty, matted, yucky looking dog running around in our driveway. It was pretty clear he was a stray,” said Allie Collins.

So they did what any good dog-loving couple would do, and cleaned him up.

It wasn’t until a trip to the vet, that they learned the pup wasn’t a stray at all. The dog was fitted with a microchip, and when the vet pulled the information, they found he not only had a family, but had been missing for five years.
