It was a big night in Hollywood Sunday and an even bigger night for performers who took home the Oscar during the live airing of the 86th Academy Awards.

Among them was Lupita Nyong’o, who arrived in a stunning “Nairobi blue” Prada gown and left with the Oscar for best supporting actress — a moment which markedly became one of the biggest highlights of the night.

Users on Twitter described the night as her “Cinderella moment” as she walked the red carpet with effortless grace and proved, yet again, why she is Hollywood’s new “it” girl.

Kerry Washington’s arrival marked another big fashion moment. The Scandal star — who presented an Oscar award that night — wore a custom-designed Jason Wu amethyst gown that draped over her growing baby bump and complimented her dark lip color.

These ladies were joined by several other stunning black women who graced the red carpet including actresses Alfre Woodard in a navy-blue dress with a plunging neckline and Viola Davis in an emerald Escada gown.

As for the men, crisp suits with tailored hemlines draped the bodies of some of Hollywood’s growing and established elite like Michael B. Jordan, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Sidney Poitier, who presented the best director award on the 50th anniversary of becoming the first black man to ever win the Oscar for best actor.

Celebrity couples also arrived in style as Will Smith and Jada-Pinkett Smith walked hand-in-hand in some of their finest black-tie attire. John Legend and wife Chrissy Tiegen  wowed the crowd in a billowing black and pink strapless floral gown by Monqiue Lhullier. Pharrell and his wife, Helen Lasichanh, also turned heads with corresponding black-and-white suits.
