'Saturday Night Live' spoofs '12 Years a Slave' auditions

theGRIO REPORT - The night before the 86th Academy Awards Saturday Night Live spoofed auditions for one of this year's top films, 12 Years a Slave.

The night before the 86th Academy Awards, Saturday Night Live spoofed auditions for one of this year’s most acclaimed films, 12 Years a Slave.

SNL cast member Kenan Thompson played the film’s director Steve McQueen in a confessional-type setting, while the rest of the cast and guest host Tim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) participated in mock auditions.

The sketch highlighted the awkwardness of the white actors auditioning for roles as slave owners.

12 Years a Slave took home three major honors at the Academy Awards. Actress Lupita Nyong’o won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, John Ridley won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay and the film took home the evening’s highest honor as Best Picture.
