Last night stars of the stage and screen shined on the red carpet at the premiere of the Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun.

Spike Lee showed up to support the play’s star, Denzel Washington, who he’s previously collaborated with on four films.

Lee candidly expressed his desire for his fifth film with Washington to be a sequel to 1998’s He Got Game.

He Got Game 2 [should be my fifth film with Washington]. I hope so.” Lee said. “I want to do it, Rosario [Dawson] wants to do it, Ray Allen wants to do it…”

When asked what’s holding up the process of making He Got Game 2, Lee answered by pointing to the theater where Washington was prepping for his Raisin in the Sun performance.

Lee also opened up about his next big screen project; a movie he made via funds he raised on Kickstarter last year.

The Sweet Blood of Jesus, Lee says will hit theaters in the summer or fall of this year.

As for the premise of the film, Lee says, “It’s about people addicted to blood, but they’re not vampires.”

The Oldboy director also talked about his portrayal of women in his films, and said that once he married his wife, Tonya Lewis Lee, he changed how he portrayed female characters on the big screen for the better.
