Whether you’re a die-hard Yankees fan or not even a fan of baseball, everyone has to acknowledge the respect that the Yankee’s Captain has commanded over his 20-year career in the Majors.
The one minute and 40 second video starts with Jeter walking to bat at Yankee Stadium, digging in the batter’s box and tipping his helmet. Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester tips his hat back, which leads into a montage of people tipping their hats.
A list of celebrities, including Spike Lee, Michael Jordan, Billy Crystal and Jay-Z, tip their hats to the great. The spot also includes NYPD officers and FDNY firefighters showing their respect.
A couple Red Sox fans and New York Mets players, whose faces are blurred out, are even featured tipping their hats.
According to AdWeek, the “RE2PECT” commercial is set to air shortly before Jeter takes his first at-bat in his final MLB All-Star Game Tuesday evening.
