VH1 has released a first look at the highly anticipated original movie, Drumline: A New Beat.

The film is a sequel to 2002’s Drumline, which starred Nick Cannon, Zoe Saldana, and Orlando Jones.

Take a look at the first look clip for Drumline: A New Beat starring Alexandra Shipp, who plays a brilliant drummer whose goal is to become the first female percussion section leader in the famous Atlanta A&T drumline (Shipp will also star in Lifetime’s new Aaliyah bio pic).

Former Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett plays the beautiful, determined Atlanta A&T Dean of Students — Dr. Nia Phillips.

Nick Cannon is executive producing the movie and reprising his role as Devon Miles in a cameo. Drumline: A New Beat is set to premiere on VH1 this fall.

Drumline: A New Beat will capture the sound and spirit of the first film while welcoming a whole new class to the Atlanta A & T drumline. The story follows Danielle (Dani) Bolton, an upper class Brooklyn girl who defies her parents in order to attend Atlanta A & T so she can join – and revitalize – their once-prominent drumline. – VH1
