President Obama visited Westchester, New York, during Labor Day weekend and was denied tee time by several gold courses in the area.

Managers of golf clubs like the Trump National Golf Club, the Willow Ridge and the Winged Foot denied the presidential  requests because they did not want to shut down their courses during the holiday weekend to accommodate the president. Doing so would mean inconveniencing their high-paying and high-powered members who also wanted to play.

Sources tell WNBC that Obama’s advance team party gave the clubs a day or two notice to accommodate the president on Saturday Morning.

Other courses and clubs in the area told WNBC that Labor Day is the busiest time for golf courses and that memberships can exceed $100,000, meaning the clubs would have to displace their high-paying members on the weekend that they wanted to play.

Spokesmen for the three clubs previously named have yet to comment.

Obama was in the area for fundraising events and was scheduled to stay the night in Westchester County to attend the wedding of White House chef Sam Kass and MSNBC host and political commentator Alex Wagner.

However, shortly before his trip on Thursday, August 28, White House officials announced the president’s change of plans. He would return to Washington on Friday instead of staying overnight in New York.

This was a last-minute decision that would allow the president to sleep in his own bed, do a little work and spend time with his family the following day before flying back to New York that night to attend the private event.

Political analyst Dan Gerstein said that there was a time in Obama’s career when nobody would have turned him down but that the president has lost the star quality he possessed during his early years in office.
