New ABC drama How to Get With Murder broke multiple records following last week’s series premiere.

The show ranked No. 1 for a new series in the adults 18-49 demographic, and the series also had the greatest DVR viewership increase in history.

Produced by Shonda Rhimes, the show had 20.3 million viewers and a rating of 5.8 among adults aged 18 to 49, according to The Hollywood ReporterHow to Get Away With Murder defeated the growth of the previous demo champion, Gotham.

With Viola Davis in a leading role, the new series’ increase of 6 million entirely defeated all the other live-plus-3 premieres.

The stats beat the previous record set by NBC’s The Blacklist back in January. The Big Bang Theory is the only Big Four champion to have a larger increase in three days in the key demo.

It’s a great fall for ABC. The network posted two high-profile premieres in both live and time-shifted viewing, and there was an increase of 40 percent in the key demo for the comedy Black-ish.

The next few Thursday nights will determine if How to Get Away With Murder can solidify its claim at the top spot.
