Some bad people in this world call CNN anchor Don Lemon an “Uncle Tom” when he doesn’t “push a certain narrative” they expect.

Some of those mean people are on Twitter.

Lemon shared his experience Monday night during a discussion about Charles Barkley’s recent comments on “unintelligent black people.” Barkley was lamenting a report that came out concerning some Seahawks players believing team quarterback Russell Wilson wasn’t “black enough.”

Barkley got some flak for making pretty broad statements about “black people,” but his point was clear: Black folk shouldn’t subscribe to the “black enough, not black enough” line of thinking.

Lemon agreed and said he faces similar criticism when he tries to make points about racial issues.

Lemon, joined by TheBlaze contributor Tara Setmayer and CNN contributor Van Jones, specifically referenced how his Twitter feed gets when he takes an “unpopular” stance concerning African-Americans:

If I don’t carry a certain narrative for … which people think that African-Ameicans or liberals [have] — and I’m not a liberal and I’m not a conservative either — then I am all of a sudden an Uncle Tom, I am a sellout. I am all of these things […]

I was at brunch [Sunday] with all black people, about ten black people. And everyone said ‘He has a point.’ ‘He said it wrong but he is correct in his point. It’s absolutely, true.’

According to Mediaite, the CNN host joined the Tom Joyner Morning Show Tuesday and continued to support Barkley’s statements. Some black people, Lemon suggested, were mad at Barkley because there was “truth in his statements.”
