Bill Cosby tour is still a go

As the controversy around the Bill Cosby sexual assault allegations continues to grow, the 77-year-old comedian has seen a scheduled appearance on Letterman cancelled, a planned NBC series canned and an upcoming Netflix special titled Bill Cosby 77 postponed.

Tour venues, however, have indicated that they will not cancel Bill Cosby’s tour dates for his upcoming stand-up shows. TMZ reported that when asked for an explanation, the venues explained that they thought it inappropriate to cancel Cosby’s tour dates based on allegations alone.

Officials at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas indicated that his Thursday show would not be cancelled, and a King Center for the Performing Arts representative said that no customers had requested a refund for Cosby’s sold out Friday show in Melbourne, FL. No dates on the 26-stop comedy tour have been cancelled.

Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art also said that an exhibition that included Cosby’s African-American art collection would remain open as planned. Museum spokesman Eddie Burke said, “The exhibition has been very well received. We’ve actually had record numbers through the door.”

Streaming video provider Netflix didn’t feel the same way, however, and postponed the release of a Cosby comedy special originally slated for November 28.

NBC announced that the “the Cosby project is no longer in development.” TV Land, which airs re-runs of The Cosby Show, also said that they would stop broadcasting the show indefinitely.
