Shaniesha Forbes was just 14 years old when her nude, lifeless body was found burned on a beach in Brooklyn last year.
Monday, a jury took just one hour to find her 22-year-old former boyfriend Christian Ferdinand responsible for her murder.
The New York Daily News reports that Ferdinand met Forbes on Facebook and the two became a couple afterwards.
Ferdinand was 20 at the time of the murder.
According to prosecutors, Ferdinand became enraged when Forbes told him she was pregnant with his child and that she would not have an abortion.
Ferdinand strangled Forbes to death with a pillow at his cousin’s apartment. He then doused Forbes dead body with Axe body spray and set it on fire. He stuffed Forbes into a suitcase and tossed it into the Gerritsen Bay.
Forbes body was discovered last year on January 6. Ferdinand was arrested and charged with second-degree murder a few months later.
Authorities found Ferdinand hiding in Maine. According to the New York Post’s Joshua Saul, Ferdinand asked if he would receive “community service” following his confession.
An autopsy later revealed Forbes was not pregnant. According to Pix 11, she was an “aspiring nurse.”
Ferdinand reportedly faces 25 years to life in prison. He will receive his sentence next month.
