LeBron is looking for an 'I Can't Breathe' shirt to wear

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

LeBron James may be following Derrick Rose’s lead and openly showing his support for the protests against the Eric Garner decision. Saturday night during a warmup of an NBA game, Rose, a Chicago Bulls point guard wore a black shirt with bold white letters reading, “I Can’t Breathe.”

Those were the last words of Garner, a 43-year-old choking victim who died at the hands of an NYPD officer. A Staten Island grand jury’s decision not to indict the officer has sparked national outrage and protests.

When James was asked about Rose’s shirt, he replied, “It was spectacular. I loved it. I’m looking for one.” The shirts can actually be found on eBay for $9.99.

LeBron has already proven that he’s not one to duck controversial issues. He’s made his thoughts known in the Trayvon Martin case and on Ferguson. “It doesn’t matter if you are an athlete or not,’’ James said. “If it hits home for you, then you have the right to speak on it. That’s why we have freedom of speech.”

If King James decides to rock the shirt during his game against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, it will be before a royal audience. Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton will be attending as a part of their visit to NY.
