Fox News’ attempt to engage with the Internet backfired in a big way.

On the Fox & Friends program, hosts asked their viewers on Twitter to use the hashtag #OverIt2014 to share the trends or things they were “over” in 2014. Host Elisabeth Hasselbeck kicked off the idea with her own statement saying she is over “attacks on Christianity.”

Although some responses followed Hasselbeck’s lead, many responses instead attacked Fox News itself. Things these viewers were over included “24 hour news channels,” “Fox News being treated as a legitimate news source,” and “Fox & Friends.” Other responses were far more graphic.

Fox & Friends and its hosts have not yet responded to the hashtag failure.
