A 43-year-old Memphis man is in jail for aggravated statutory rape after impregnating a 16-year-old girl.
In January of last year, the girl went on a date with Robert Brown, who she believed to be 21, reports WREG. They had unprotected sex, and soon after, the girl’s mother noticed she was putting on weight. They later learned she was pregnant.
When the girl texted Brown about the pregnancy, he offered to pay for an abortion. However, he changed numbers when the girl’s mother learned he was really 43.
The laws in Tennessee state that rape it statutory if one of the parties is between 13 and 18 and the other is at least 4 years older.
