Recently, Bradley Knudson intercepted bullying messages sent to his black daughter that contained the n-word. His emotional response, posted to Youtube and viewed over 2.5 million times, earned him praise as a father, but he now worries that the lesson didn’t sink in with his daughter.

Knudson and his family, who are white, had adopted Dee Dee when she was three. When he found out that the twin sons of Deron Puro has been bullying his child, he called the other father to resolve the issue. Instead Puro dismissed his complaints and called him a “N***** lover” in recorded phone messages. That’s when Knudson filmed the message below.

Due to the publicity and overwhelming support the family has received, Puro has since been fired from his job, and issued a full apology. The school district is also investigating the incident, and may punish the Puro children itself.

But now, in an unexpected twist – Dee Dee has been heard using the n-word herself. In a message recorded on her phone and in front of local news she can be heard saying excitedly, “Let’s go n*****. Let’s go!”

Knudson was disappointed by the footage and says his daughter’s actions don’t reflect his values.

“Regardless of your skin color I and my wife do not tolerate this word. Our daughter is going to be reprimanded in an appropriate manner,” he said in an online comment.”I am extremely saddened and disappointed because of this video she has discredited the message that we wanted to convey.”

Dee Dee later apologized, saying: “I was excited and not paying attention to what I was saying but I did use it in a different meaning.”

Grio fam, do you think it’s fair for this dad to punish his daughter, even though she was using the n-word in a different context than her bullies?
