Eric and Taneca Matthews were excited about bringing their second child into the world, but apparently, their child was just to excited to get there, too.

About the time Eric got home, little Peyton Matthews decided it was time to join the family.

Last Tuesday, Eric arrived home unusually early from work, just in time to find out that his wife was going into labor. “I could feel her coming so I knew we weren’t going to make it anywhere,” said Taneca. “So I told him to just go ahead and call [911].”

The operator walked Eric through much of the beginnings, and then baby Peyton started to peek out into the world.

“The operator said ‘I’m going to stay on the phone with you until the EMTs come’ and then I saw a forehead and I just dropped the phone,” said Eric.

30 minutes later, Peyton was born, and both Peyton and Taneca are doing fine. “You get to see the magic of childbirth and it is magic and to actually get to hold her straight from birth in your hands, it’s indescribable,” said Eric.

Both mom and dad praised the 911 operator and EMT crews for getting them through the unexpected birth easily.
