A Muskegon County judge was in the middle of passing a verdict when the convicted man appeared to be about to faint.

After the judge declared a guilty verdict for two weapons counts, first-degree murder and premeditated murder, Robert Gee leaned forward, resting his head on his desk. But a few minutes into the judge’s explanation of how he reached the verdict, Gee sat up. He looked like he was about to faint.

Gee did not faint but seemed to be gesturing and talking in his family’s direction, though the fainting spell did upset some family members, who had to be removed from the courtroom. A few minutes later, Gee appeared to suffer another fainting spell and was then carried away.

Gee eventually returned and sat through the rest of the hearing and walked out without help.

Gee had been convicted for shooting and killing local singer Jake Rameau. Rameau was chasing down the person who had stolen his brother’s car.

“Jake was a hero that night,” Jeaniee Rameau, the victim’s mother, said. “And for sure I’m going to make sure that memory lives on.”

“He was doing what Jake always does, and that’s helping his family and his friends,” she continued.
